A review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium Trilogy Book 1)

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a dark-hearted thriller. It is quite slow at the start with a libel suit between Mikael Blomkvist and his arch rival Wernerstrom. But once Blomkvist is offered a job by Henrik Vanger things seem to speed up. He is hired to find out what happened to Harriett Vanger, Henrik's niece, 40 years earlier.

The story follows two main characters, Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander. An investigative reporter and a punk prodigy. This unlikely pairing causes some sparks to fly. But the real story is the mystery of Harriett Vanger. What happened to her over 40 years previous? How did she vanish off the island? and the more curious question... why? Why would anyone want to hurt her?

In a family full of backstabbers, double-crossers, and dark secrets anything is possible. The only question is who. And what connection does the Vanger have to a mass serial killer that's suddenly resurfaced?

Be prepared for a page-turner with the classic twist on a twist that will keep you coming back for more!
